Press Release, October 30, 2017 - 10:00 am (CEST)

  • OMV earns “Leadership A-“ score in Climate Change and Water
  • OMV is thereby among the top 13 companies in the global Energy Sector
  • OMV’s activities serve as a role model in the industry

On October, 24 CDP published its latest results and OMV achieved again a "Leadership A-" score in the fields of Climate Change and Water. OMV is thereby among the top companies worldwide in the global Energy Sector. OMV has responded to CDP Climate Change since 2011 and for the first time to CDP Water in 2016. In 2017, OMV achieved this outstanding "Leadership A-" result for the second time in a row.

“Earning a 'Leadership A-' CDP scoring in the fields of Climate Change and Water is a huge achievement for OMV. It is a testament to all of the efforts undertaken and the measures we have implemented. This type of result is outstanding, especially in the oil and gas industry”, said Brigitte Bichler, Head of OMV Environmental Management.

The mission of the CDP is to increase the transparency of corporate environmental and climate protection worldwide. CDP is a non-profit organization of institutional investors, founded in 2000 in London. Since its founding it has lobbied to ensure that the 500 largest corporations and municipalities publish their environmental data, such as those on greenhouse gases and water consumption. The system means that climate protection is a key performance indicator for companies.

OMV’s sustainability performance is evaluated every year by a number of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) rating agencies. The strong achievements are confirmed by FTSE4Good, Sustainalytics (STOXX), MSCI, Vigeo Euronext, Ethibel and ECPI.

OMV is a signatory of the UN Global Compact and is committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations – here with a particular focus on SDG 13 “ Climate action”. In addition, OMV has endorsed the World Bank Initiative “Zero routine flaring by 2030” and has committed to eliminate the routine flaring completely by 2030.
